The race already has over 4,400 confirmed participants in the first three weeks of registration
The Marathon distance closed registrations in just 54 hours with more than 1,300 runner
The North Face Transgrancanaria 2026 opened registrations on July 2nd, and in less than a month it already boasts over 4,400 registered participants, with two race distances officially sold out. The first to close was the TGC Marathon, reaching more than 1,300 runners in just 54 hours — a record. The second sold-out event is the TGC Promo, an ideal race for trail running newcomers, which will welcome over 400 participants. A waiting list has also been opened to fill any possible vacancies that may arise later. Although the remaining race distances are still available, registration is moving quickly, with some distances already 85% full. Those interested in registering can do so via the official website: www.transgrancanaria.net.
The TGC Promo, which once again follows a route along the central highlands of Gran Canaria, features a strong female turnout, with 60% of registered participants being women. Most runners come from the province of Las Palmas, followed by Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Balearic Islands, as well as countries like Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. The race will take place on Thursday, March 5th at 11:00 a.m., starting from Plaza de San Matías in Artenara. The 12-kilometer course will pass through some of the island’s iconic locations, such as Pinar de Gáldar and Caldera de Tejeda. The finish line will once again be set in the town of Tejeda.
Gran Canaria: International Trail Running Hub
With more than 4,400 confirmed runners in the first weeks of registration, The North Face Transgrancanaria reinforces its role as a major global trail running event. Taking place from March 4th to 8th on the island of Gran Canaria, the race will gather the best athletes in the discipline. They will be joined by runners from over 50 countries, along with more than 2,700 participants from Spain — 1,700 of them Canary Islands residents. Among the most represented countries are the United Kingdom (260+ runners), France (250+), and Germany (180+), followed by Italy, Poland, and Belgium. But Transgrancanaria goes far beyond Europe, with athletes traveling from the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, China, Japan, India, New Zealand, and Indonesia, among many others.
The North Face Transgrancanaria is organized by Arista Eventos and sponsored by the Gran Canaria Island Council — through Gran Canaria Tourism and the Island Sports Institute — the Canary Islands Government with “Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida”, the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council (via the Municipal Sports Institute), the municipalities of Teror and Tejeda. It is also supported by The North Face, San Roque University Hospitals, Lopesan Hotel Group, ExpoMeloneras, 226ERS, Fred. Olsen Express, Sonocom Audiovisuales, and Aguas de Teror.
