Due to high demand for registrations, the organization has opened a waiting list for all seven events

The island will host the twenty-fifth edition of the trail running race from February 21 to 25

The North Face Transgrancanaria has sold out registrations in all seven categories for the 2024 event, featuring 4,000 athletes on the starting lines of the race taking place in Gran Canaria from February 21 to 25 next year. Faced with this historic pace of registration, completing all bibs more than three months in advance for the first time, the organization has opened a free waiting list to cover possible last-minute withdrawals.

The race, in its twenty-fifth edition will be sponsored once again by The North Face, will follow the same competition format with races and events taking place throughout a week, placing the island of Gran Canaria at the global epicenter of trail running.

The early closure of registrations for the Marathon category, which sold out in September, foreshadowed the situation in other events such as Classic, Advanced, Starter, Promo, Family Trail, and El Kilómetro Vertical El Gigante, which now open the waiting list period.

The North Face Transgrancanaria is an event with the invaluable support of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Sports Council, led by Aridany Romero, and Tourism Council, led by Carlos Álamo. According to Carlos Álamo, the event “provides very interesting external visibility for the island and its tourism sector, exporting attributes of our offerings linked to nature, our inland and summit municipalities, as well as tourist attractions, focusing on the qualities of our network of trails and the infinite possibilities offered by our privileged geography for active tourism.”

Similarly, the Tourism Councilor emphasizes that active tourism “is one of the segments that is growing the most in the sector after the pandemic and one that generates the most interest,” as “more and more customers choose our destination for the combination of natural beauty, good weather, and sports opportunities.” Thanks to the trajectory of Arista and Transgrancanaria, we are known as a priority destination for mountain sports enthusiasts. This is reflected in the demand generated by this event, which, I recall, was a pioneer among its category in the Canary Islands, and the fact that it closed the registration list earlier than ever, more than three months in advance.”

The prestigious mountain race will once again bring participants from around the world to the island of Gran Canaria, with 1,800 of the registered individuals being of foreign nationality. Thus, once again, The North Face Transgrancanaria will position itself as one of the most international sports events in the Canary Islands, with 72 nationalities represented among all registered participants.

The North Face Transgrancanaria is organized by Arista Eventos and is sponsored by the institutions Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Tourism of Gran Canaria and Gran Canaria European Sport Island, the Government of the Canary Islands with Canary Islands Latitude of Life, Maspalomas Costa Canaria, the Municipal Sports Institute of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the City Council of Tejeda; and the companies The North Face, Fred. Olsen Express, Hospitales Universitarios San Roque, Expomeloneras, 226ERS, and Sonocom Audiovisuales.
