Norwegian athlete dominates 126 km race and finishes 12th overall
The North American runner breaks the record of the main event with 12:17:25
Henriette Albon and Caleb Olson dominated with authority in their respective categories in the Classic of The North Face Transgrancanaria 2025. The race that started at midnight on Friday at Las Canteras Beach had a thousand athletes who left behind the sand of the capital’s beach to run the 126 kilometers to Parque Sur de Maspalomas.
The first part of the race was carried out with a frenetic pace and an equality rarely seen in an ultradistance competition. In the women’s category, Claudia Tremps began leading the race, until little by little Henriette Albon, the eventual winner, cut her lead. It was in the passage through Tejeda, when the Norwegian began to open the gap to end up entering the finish line with more than an hour ahead of the Catalan of the On Team. 15:02:50 was the time used by the 2025 champion, who will leave her name in the history of The North Face Transgrancanaria, in the year she made her debut in this queen race. In second place, one hour and six minutes behind, was the aforementioned Claudia Tremps, while the Slovenian Martina Klancnik, always in the leading group, closed the podium.
In the men’s category, there was also a clear dominator in Caleb Olson. The Nike Trail athlete broke the absolute record of the race stopping the stopwatch in 12:17:25. Despite the stratospheric mark, the runner of The North Face, Jonathan Albon, only entered just eight minutes later. The bronze medal went to another runner from The North Face team, and also British, Josh Wade, also under 13 hours.
The extreme hardness of the race caused abandonments in several favorite runners such as Yngvild Kaspersen, Abel Carretero, Pau Capell, Borja Fernández or Miguel Heras.
