The British runner from The North Face team, who is world trail champion, will participate in the 126-kilometer Classic

Jonathan Albon (United Kingdom, 1989) will participate for the first time in the Classic race in The North Face Transgrancanaria 2025. The British, one of the best trail runners on the planet, is the first elite runner confirmed for a race that will once again start from the iconic Playa de las Canteras beach on February 21.

The North Face team’s athlete has an ITRA index of 931 and an impeccable track record of results. Only in 2024 the British won in Nice Cote d’Azur by UTMB; Wildstrubel UTMB and Transvulcania.

In addition to becoming  world trail champion in Coimbra in 2019, his list of victories includes the Festival Des Templiers (2021 and 2023); Dacia UTMB Mont Blanc CCC (2023); Marathon du Mont Blanc (2022); Salomon Ultra Pirineu (2021) or UTMB OCC (2021). To his record as a runner must be added podiums in other prestigious races such as Zegama-Aizkorri (2023) and UTMB Mont Blanc CCC (2022).

Albon will make his debut in the Classic race, which will start at midnight on Friday 21 at Las Canteras beach. Ahead, 126 kilometers with 6,866 meters of positive elevation until the finish line in Maspalomas.

The North Face Transgrancanaria 2025 has beaten the number of registered runners with more than 4,600 bibs from 70 different countries. The organization of the event will be revealing in the coming weeks more confirmed participants of the various races that this year will take place from February 19 to 23.

The North Face Transgrancanaria is a race organized by Arista Eventos that is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria institutions, through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Insular Sports Institute; the Government of the Canary Islands with the Canary Islands Latitude of Life; Maspalomas Costa Canaria; the Municipal Sports Institute of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; the Teror City Council and the Tejeda City Council. In addition, it has the support of private companies as The North Face, San Roque University Hospitals, and Fred. Olsen Express, 226ERS, Sonocom Audiovisuales, Lopesan Hotel Group, ExpoMeloneras and Aguas de Teror.
