The Briton and the Basque will compete in the Classic race
Both join Tom Evans and Katharina Hartmuth on the list of favourites to win
The North Face Transgrancanaria continues to add elites to the list of participants. The Briton Josh Wade and the Basque Maite Maiora will be present at the start of the Classic race on the night of 6 March from Las Canteras beach. Both runners join the names of Tom Evans and Katharina Hartmuth, already confirmed in the long distance of the event, and Sara Alonso and Robert Pkemoi, who will take the start in the Marathon.
The runner from The North Face team has one of the highest scores on the ITRA index, with 910 points, thanks to the results achieved throughout the last few seasons. Among them, his participations in the last two editions of The North Face Transgrancanaria stand out, where he obtained an eighth place in 2024 and a third in 2025, only behind Caleb Olson and Jonathan Albon, first and second respectively.
The 30-year-old Briton will arrive in Gran Canaria as one of the main favourites to claim victory after great performances like the one achieved in the last edition of UTMB, where he got onto the third step of the podium. Likewise, his track record includes three victories over different distances at Ultra-Trail Snowdonia in the 2019 (84 kilometres), 2022 (99 kilometres) and 2023 (168 kilometres) editions and a third position at the Eiger Ultra-Trail, as well as an eighth place at Lavaredo Ultra Trail this season and an eleventh at the Madeira Island Ultra-Trail (MIUT) in 2022.
