The Swiss runner will take part in the KV El Gigante and the Half

Judith Wyder (Zimmerwald, 1988) is one of the most important names in the world of trail running. The Swiss athlete will run two races in The North Face Transgrancanaria, the KV El Gigante and the Half. On Wednesday she will be at the finish line in the first race of this edition, with 5.5 kilometers and 1,060 meters of positive elevation from the Agaete Valley. The next day, the HOKA runner will run from Tunte the 21 kilometers through the south side of Gran Canaria with the spectacular climb of the Camino de La Plata.

In addition to her brilliant trail running career, Wyder is a five-time orienteering world champion and six-time European champion. She has competed at the highest level in orienteering and skyrunning, until in 2019 she began her professional career in the world of trail running.

In her debut year, she broke the record at Dolomyths Run Sellaronda Ultra Trail with 2:18:51. The following month, she finished second at Sierre-Zinal and won the Annapurna Trail Marathon, a victory that earned her the Golden Trail World Series title. The HOKA runner has also twice been runner-up in the prestigious circuit and won the silver medal at the World Trail Championships (2023).

Today, she has an ITRA ranking of 805 after an outstanding 2024 in terms of results. Wyder won the Marathon du Mont-Blanc, including a record time (4:11:12); she finished second in the 55 km OCC and culminated with an excellent victory in Mallorca by UTMB.

Judith Wyder joins Jonathan Albon; Yngvild Kaspersen; Tom Evans and Zach Miller to the names that will try to shine in an edition of The North Face Transgrancanaria that has managed to surpass 5,300 registered runners from 70 countries.

The North Face Transgrancanaria is a race organized by Arista Eventos that is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria institutions, through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Insular Sports Institute; the Government of the Canary Islands with the Canary Islands Latitude of Life; Maspalomas Costa Canaria; the Municipal Sports Institute of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; the Teror City Council and the Tejeda City Council. In addition, it has the support of private companies as The North Face, San Roque University Hospitals, and Fred. Olsen Express, 226ERS, Sonocom Audiovisuales, Lopesan Hotel Group, ExpoMeloneras and Aguas de Teror.
