After two participations in the Marathon, the Basque runner of the Vibram team will run this time the Classic 

Maite Maiora (Mendaro, Guipuzcoa, 1980) is one of the most versatile mountain runners with victories in several disciplines. The athlete from Guipuzcoa returns to The North Face Transgrancanaria, although this time she will participate in the 126-kilometer Classic modality, scoring for the international circuit Gran Canaria World Trail Majors.

A policeman by profession, she practiced several sports before dedicating herself to trail running and has an enviable track record of victories in mountain sports. The Vibram team athlete has been proclaimed, among other achievements, Ultra SkyRunning World Champion (2021); Sky Extreme (2017) and Sky Marathon (2016). In addition, she achieved the gold medal for teams in the World Trail Running Penyagolosa (2018).

Maiora currently has an ITRA ranking of 742 and accumulates victories in prestigious races such as Zegama-Aizkorri (2017), where she also beat the course record; Ultra Pirineu (2017); Val d’Aran by UTMB (2022) and Ultra-Trail des Chavaliers (2023). Also noteworthy are his podiums in Transvulcania (2014); Marathon du Mont-Blanc (2015); UTMB CCC (2017) and UTMB (2019).

Her most outstanding results in 2024 are the third place in Madeira Island Ultra-Trail, within the international circuit Gran Canaria World Trail Majors; fourth in Mozart 100 by UTMB; third HOKA Val’Aran by UTMB and the victory in Himam Trail Tun Race in Oman.

Maiora had already participated in the last two years in The North Face Transgrancanaria Marathon, and now she will be on the starting line of the Playa de Las Canteras to compete in the Classic. The Basque runner joins a string of elite runners of a commendable level such as Jonathan Albon; Yngvild Kaspersen; Tom Evans; Zach Miller; Judith Wyder; Miguel Heras; Ida Nilsson and Pau Capell.

The North Face Transgrancanaria is a race organized by Arista Eventos that is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria institutions, through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Insular Sports Institute; the Government of the Canary Islands with the Canary Islands Latitude of Life; Maspalomas Costa Canaria; the Municipal Sports Institute of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; the Teror City Council and the Tejeda City Council. In addition, it has the support of private companies as The North Face, San Roque University Hospitals, and Fred. Olsen Express, 226ERS, Sonocom Audiovisuales, Lopesan Hotel Group, ExpoMeloneras and Aguas de Teror.
