The sports event still has registrations open for the rest of the categories with a high registration rate.
With just over five months left until the race, the event has exceeded 2,700 participants from 60 countries who will be taking part from February 21 to 25, 2024.
The North Face Transgrancanaria has announced that the “registration closed” sign has been hung for the Marathon category just 50 days after the opening of registrations, setting a historical record speed for the event. The organization has received a high number of requests for the 46-kilometer race, resulting in the provisional closure of the waiting list. However, they do not rule out reopening it through the official website (www.transgrancanaria.net) to accommodate possible cancellations that may happen in the coming weeks. The trail running race, scheduled to take place from February 21 to 25, 2024, is still accepting registrations for its other categories, although all of them have exceeded expectations and have a very high registration rate. The North Face Transgrancanaria will repeat the competition format with races and events spanning an entire week, once again making Gran Canaria the epicenter of the global trail running scene.
As for the main race, the Classic, it has already sold over 80% of its bibs, the Advanced is at 69%, the Starter at 82%, the Promo at 50%, and the Vertical Kilometer ‘El Gigante’ at 75%. Given this speed, the organization anticipates that the Starter and Classic categories may sell out in the coming weeks. Just like in the Marathon, the organization will open a free waiting list for each race when they reach 100% capacity. It should be noted that until November 2nd at 4:00 PM, those who wish to participate in the 25th edition of the race can avail of a discounted registration fee. After that, the fees will return to their regular rates, which have remained unchanged for the fourth consecutive year, despite the inflation observed over the past year across Europe.
This prestigious trail running race will once again bring participants from all over the world to the island of Gran Canaria. To date, more than 2,700 people have registered, representing 60 different nationalities in the upcoming edition of the event. Over a thousand foreign participants highlight the international appeal of this event, with France being the leading foreign country with 212 registered participants, followed by the United Kingdom with 94, Poland with 74, Germany with 68, Italy with 58, and Finland with 52. Outside of Europe, there are 14 participants from Argentina and six from the United States, as well as participants from Mexico, Canada, Uruguay, Malaysia, China, Japan, Brazil, and Australia. Once again, The North Face Transgrancanaria will reaffirm its position as one of the most international sports events in the Canary Islands.
The North Face Transgrancanaria is sponsored by the institutions Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Turismo de Gran Canaria and Gran Canaria Europeans Sport Island, the Government of the Canary Islands with Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida, Maspalomas Costa Canaria, the Municipal Sports Institute of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the Tejeda City Council, as well as the companies The North Face, Fred.
