The Catalan runner of The North Face team is the king of the race with a total of four victories in the Classic

Pau Capell (Sant Boi de Llobregat, 1991) returns to Gran Canaria after missing the last edition due to paternity. Nobody has won more times than him. Capell is the king of the Classic with four consecutive victories achieved in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In addition, the Catalan accumulates two podiums in 2016 (third position) and 2022 (second position). The North Face Transgrancanaria Classic has 126 kilometers this year and will once again be part of the international circuit Gran Canaria World Trail Majors.

The North Face team athlete is one of the best mountain runners in the world, and has an ITRA ranking of 882. In addition to the poker of victories in The North Face Transgrancanaria, Capell has been on the podium of several of the most important races in the world. His baggage of triumphs encompasses such prestigious events as The North Face Transgrancanaria Advanced (2015); Ultra-Trail Australia (2016) UTMB – TDS (2016); Eiger Ultra-Trail (2018); Patagonia Run (2019 and 2022) and UTMB (2019). 

Especially memorable was his 2019 where in 10 months he chained victories in Pilancones Tunte Trail; Transgrancanaria Classic, Patagonia Run, CerroRojo, Compressport Trail Menorca Cami de Cavalls; Tenerife Bluetrail; Mozart 100, UTMB; Ultratrack Supramonte Seaside; Santa Cruz Extreme; and Trepitja Garrotxa Solidària. Likewise, the Catalan managed to become three consecutive champions of the Ultra Trail World Tour circuit (2018, 2019 and 2021).  

In his last year of competition in 2024, he won Trail Ultra Muntanyes Costa Daurada and Trail Menorca Cami de Cavalls, in addition to accumulating podiums in La Llanera Trail; Istria 100 UTMB and Ultra trail Dinarides.

Pau Capell returns to The North Face Transgrancanaria looking to continue extending his legend in the Gran Canaria event and joins a cast of stars already confirmed as Jonathan Albon; Yngvild Kaspersen; Tom Evans; Zach Miller; Judith Wyder; Miguel Heras and Ida Nilsson. The organization of The North Face Transgrancanaria will continue to unveil names of runners in the coming weeks for an edition that has already broken registration records with more than 5,300 participants.

The North Face Transgrancanaria is a race organized by Arista Eventos that is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria institutions, through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Insular Sports Institute; the Government of the Canary Islands with the Canary Islands Latitude of Life; Maspalomas Costa Canaria; the Municipal Sports Institute of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; the Teror City Council and the Tejeda City Council. In addition, it has the support of private companies as The North Face, San Roque University Hospitals, and Fred. Olsen Express, 226ERS, Sonocom Audiovisuales, Lopesan Hotel Group, ExpoMeloneras and Aguas de Teror.
