This race has nearly 1,000 registered participants and a course of 23 kilometers with 1,817 meters of elevation gain

The 27th edition of the Gran Canaria event will take place from March 4 to 8, 2026

The municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana will host, on March 5, the new starting point for the ‘Half’ category of The North Face Transgrancanaria 2026. This is one of the major new features of the race for its 27th edition, which will be held from March 4 to 8. To date, nearly 1,000 participants have registered for this distance, which will cover 23 kilometers and 1,817 meters of elevation gain, starting in Santa Lucía de Tirajana and finishing in Tejeda.

“It’s a great source of joy,” said Julio Ojeda, Councillor for Physical Activity and Sports at the Santa Lucía de Tirajana Town Hall. “We are proud to be part of The North Face Transgrancanaria and to be able to share with our citizens the benefits our municipality offers for sports, making use of the natural surroundings of the town center and the Caldera de Tirajana,” he added.

The ‘Half’ — formerly known as the ‘Starter’ — will see part of its route modified for the 2026 edition with the new start in Santa Lucía de Tirajana and the finish line in Tejeda. This distance will feature 23 kilometers and 1,817 meters of elevation gain, passing through iconic locations on the island such as the historic center of Santa Lucía, the picturesque village of Tunte, and the ever-challenging Camino de La Plata.

Carlos González, director of The North Face Transgrancanaria, stated that there have been “several years of conversations trying to bring the race through Santa Lucía de Tirajana.” “This year we’re starting with the ‘Half’ and enhancing its course, taking it deeper into the Caldera de Tirajana and the heart of the municipality,” he said.

More than 4,700 runners in the first month of registration

With over 4,700 runners confirmed during the first month of registration, The North Face Transgrancanaria once again proves its prominent position in the world of trail running.
