The event will once again be the first major international event on the mountain running calendar

The registration opening will be announced in the near future

The next edition of The North Face Transgrancanaria already has a date: from February 19 to 23, 2025, the trails of Gran Canaria will once again be the stage where the best elite runners of the world trail-running will compete for the triumph together with mountain running enthusiasts from all over the planet. It will be the second consecutive year in which the renowned outdoors brand The North Face will act as the main sponsor of the race, thus establishing an alliance between two brands committed to sustainability, respect for the environment and the preservation of natural areas.

Arista Eventos, the company that organizes the race, is already immersed in the preparations for the 26th edition of the race since, although the race was born in 2003, between 2004 and 2006 two editions were held each year. For the year 2025, the event will return with six modalities suitable for all levels of ability: the Vertical Kilometer El Gigante, the Promo / Youth, the Starter, the Marathon, the Advanced and the main event, the Classic, where participants will face a route of approximately 130 kilometers that crosses the most impressive corners of the island. For the second consecutive year, the race will be part of the international circuit Gran Canaria World Trail Majors. In addition, the Family and Kids races will be added to bring this sport to the youngest ages.

The 2025 edition promises exciting news that will be revealed in the coming weeks. For now, the organization confirms that The North Face Transgrancanaria will once again take place in the middle of winter, which means that participants will once again face the temperature changes characteristic of the island, including haze, the cold of the summit, rainfall or the heat of the southern slope of Gran Canaria.

In the last The North Face Transgrancanaria won in the Classic the American Courtney Dauwalter, twice champion of the race, and the Romanian Raul Butaci; in the Advanced the American Tara Fraga and the Polish Andrzej Witek; in the Marathon the American Jennifer Lichter and the Kenyan Robert Pkemoi; Katarzyna Solinska and Antonio Martínez in the Starter; Sasa Torkar and Alejandro Díaz in the Promo; Elvira Borring and Francisco Javier Tejonero in the Youth; and Katie Schide and Henri Aymonod in the Vertical Kilometer. Along with them, the race attracts other stars such as Azara García de los Salmones, Zach Miller, Gemma Arenas, Miguel Heras, Claudia Tremps, Andreu Simon, Emma Stuart, Pau Capell, Rosa Lara, Miguel Arsénio, Maite Maiora or Jiasheng Shen, among many others.

Furthermore, The North Face Transgrancanaria is the best showcase for the Canary Island runners, who fight against the main athletes of the planet with excellent results. Last February, Dominique Van Mechgelen reached the tenth position among the Classic women and Silvia León was seventeenth, while Estanislao Rivero and Alexis Martín crossed the finish line of the main event in eleventh and seventeenth position, respectively; Elsa Padrón was thirteenth in the Marathon and Ione Guerra twelfth. In the Starter, the palmero Yoel de Paz was runner-up and Verónica Suárez was twelfth. Meanwhile, in the Vertical Kilometer, Moana Kehres and Álvaro Escuela were third.
