Over 3,200 participants registered during the 48‑hour flash period with special discounts
The other race categories remain open but are filling up fast
The 27th edition of The North Face Transgrancanaria kicks off strongly following the recent opening of registrations. The race organizers have already hung the “sold out” sign for the TGC Marathon race in just 54 hours, with over 1,300 participants, and have activated a waiting list — a clear sign of the excitement to be part of one of the most important races in the global trail running scene. While registrations for the other race categories remain open, the pace is high, and over 3,500 runners have already signed up for the event, which will take place from March 4 to 8, 2026. Those interested in registering can do so through the official website (www.transgrancanaria.net).
Registrations opened on Wednesday, 2 July, with a first 48‑hour period offering significant discounts, during which more than 3,200 runners signed up. On Friday, the second pricing period kicked in and will run until 30 September. The third and final registration period will follow thereafter—each phase subject to slot availability. At present, TGC Marathon is the only category sold out, while the other distances remain open but are rapidly filling (the TGC Classic is already at 60 % capacity).
Of those registered so far, the majority are local athletes, with over 1,400 residents of the Canary Islands. To promote trail running within the local community, Canarian residents will continue to benefit from an additional discount throughout the registration process. The second‑largest national contingent is French, followed closely by runners from the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. To date, more than 40 countries will be represented at The North Face Transgrancanaria 2026.
Gran Canaria, the Epicenter of International Trail Running
The 27th edition of The North Face Transgrancanaria will once again bring together thousands of runners from around the globe, with Gran Canaria at the heart of the action. The event kicks off on Wednesday, 4 March, with the Kilómetro Vertical El Gigante from the Agaete Valley, followed on Thursday, 5 March, by the Half and Promo races. Friday, 6 March, promises to be one of the most eagerly anticipated days: in the morning the Marathon will start, and at midnight the iconic Classic—which counts towards the international Gran Canaria World Trail Majors circuit—will set off from Las Canteras Beach. On Saturday, 7 March, the Advanced, Short and Family categories will begin in the early hours, completing the main programme of events.
The North Face Transgrancanaria is organized by Arista Eventos and sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria (through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Instituto Insular de Deportes), the Government of the Canary Islands (Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida), the Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (through the Instituto Municipal de Deportes), the Ayuntamiento de Teror and the Ayuntamiento de Tejeda. It also enjoys the support of corporate partners The North Face, Hospitales Universitarios San Roque, Lopesan Hotel Group, ExpoMeloneras, 226ERS, Fred. Olsen Express, Sonocom Audiovisuales and Aguas de Teror.
