The North Face will be the title sponsor of the race for the third consecutive year

More than 5,300 athletes from 70 countries participated in last year’s edition, a record number for the race

The 27th edition of The North Face Transgrancanaria already has an official date: from the 4th to the 8th of March 2026. Gran Canaria will once again be the world capital of trail running, bringing together the world’s best athletes in this speciality. Arista Eventos, the organiser of the event, will announce the date for the opening of registrations in the near future.

The North Face outdoor sports brand will be the main sponsor of the race for the third consecutive year, strengthening the relationship between two leading brands worldwide, which are also aligned with sustainability, respect for the environment and the preservation of natural areas.

The North Face Transgrancanaria will once again have adapted races for all types of runners: KV El Gigante; Family; Youth; Promo; Half; Marathon; Advanced and Classic. The longest one, the Classic, included in the international circuit Gran Canaria World Trail Majors, will cross a large part of the island in a unique experience for the participants through the most impressive trails of the island. Families and younger runners will also be protagonists of the event thanks to the Family and Kids modalities.

This 2025, the Gran Canaria event broke the record of registered participants with more than 5,300 participants from 70 different countries, making the Marathon the most crowded with nearly 1,600 athletes. The municipality of Tejeda once again hosted the start of a distance that formed part of the Shorts Series by Gran Canaria World Trail Majors.

The names of 2025

The winners of the last Classic of The North Face Transgrancanaria were the Norwegian Henriette Albon and the American Caleb Olson; in the Advanced, the Swedish Ida Nilsson and Raul Butaci did the same; in the Marathon, the American Jennifer Lichter and the Italian Franceso Puppi were the fastest in a fast-paced race; In the Half, the Swiss Judith Wyder and the Spaniard Antonio Martínez won; the French Charlotte Delabarre and the Grancanarian Ione Guerra dominated in the Promo; and in the spectacular KV El Gigante Judith Wyder, who won two races, and the Italian Henri Aymonod were the winners.

Protagonism for the Canarian elite

The North Face Transgrancanaria is also a unique scenario for the Canarian runners, who were able to fight side by side with some of the best athletes on the planet, as shown by their good results in several disciplines in the last edition. Outstanding roles were played by Canarian runners Irina del Río and Elsa Martín, very close to the Top 20 in the Classic, while Estanislao Rivero was eighth and Ricardo Luis Trujillo, eleventh.

Dominique Van Mechgelen, from the Arista Pro Team, finished tenth in the Advanced race; Oswaldo Medina was the second fastest, just behind the winner Raul Butaci, while five other local runners finished in the top 20 of the 82 kilometre distance: Joaquim Van Stokkum, Alexis Javier Jiménez, Diego Sanz, Álvaro Santana and Ismael Molero.

In the Marathon, Lorena Padrón and Tatiana Cruz finished in the top 20. In the Half, Moana Lilly Kehres, seventh, and Elsa Padrón, twelfth, stood out, as did Aythami López, sixth, and Nelson Correia, ninth. In the Promo, Laura Monroy and Irene del Pino crossed the finish line in fifth and sixth place respectively; while the men’s podium was 100% Canarian with Ione Guerra, David Recco and Jehosua Medina.

Canarian athletes also stood out in the KV El Gigante with runners in the top 10 such as Lorena Padrón, sixth, and the Italian runner based in Gran Canaria, Laura Burzi, ninth, as well as three local runners in the top five: Yoel de Paz (3rd), Marco Rodríguez (4th) and Sergio Álvarez (5th).
