The organization, together with the Environment Service of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, has traced a new route through the Pilancones Natural Park
The mileage and the profile of the three modalities undergo slight variations, moving the aid station from Tunte to a new point on the route
The landslides are occurring due to the intense rains that have fallen over the last few weeks on the island
The mountain race The North Face Transgrancanaria modifies the route of the Classic, Advanced and Marathon modalities, which will be held between March 6 and 8, due to the landslides recorded in the area of La Manzanilla as a consequence of the intense rains that have fallen over the last few weeks on the island.
This modification, designed in coordination with the Environment Service of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, aims to guarantee the safety of the runners and the event staff. The new route starts from Cruz Grande, from where the runners will enter the trails of the Pilancones Natural Park to the area of Los Bailaderos, to later rejoin the original route once La Manzanilla has been passed.
In this way, the aid station planned in Tunte will be moved to the new route, the location of which will be announced in the coming days. This new control point, in any case, will not have external assistance. Likewise, as an exceptional measure, external assistance will be allowed in Ayagaures only for Classic and Advanced.
The distances of the three affected modalities present slight variations with respect to what was initially planned. Thus, the Classic will have a distance of 125 kilometers, the Advanced 80 kilometers and the Marathon 46 kilometers. The updated routes for each of the races can now be consulted on the official website of the event: www.transgrancanaria.net.
The organization asks participants to respect, during their training, the signs and indications installed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria that prohibit passage through the affected area, appealing to responsibility and prudence.
Likewise, work is being carried out preventively and in coordination with the Environment Service on the clearing and conditioning of other sections of the route that have recorded minor landslides, which do not affect the course of the race. In the coming days, the exact location of the new aid station will be reported, as well as other technical details of the races affected by this modification.
The organization thanks the runners for their understanding and cooperation. We continue working so that The North Face Transgrancanaria takes place normally and offers, once again, a unique experience on the trails of Gran Canaria.
