Fernando González, CEO of Arista Eventos—the race’s organizing company—collected the award. The President of the Gran Canaria Cabildo, Antonio Morales, led the Honors and Distinctions ceremony to mark the 113th Anniversary of the Island Council
During the institutional act held at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, President Antonio Morales appealed for “confidence built on a powerful collective history and the unity of an entire island around a common project.” He emphasized that the consolidation of island policies regarding water, energy, and food sovereignty, as well as the care for the territory and its people, are “urgent and necessary tools” in today’s volatile global context.
The ceremony honored 19 individuals and entities for their contribution to the improvement of the island and the well-being of its inhabitants across social, cultural, scientific, economic, and sporting fields.
