The American runner from The North Face team will make his debut in the Classic race of the Gran Canaria event
“Transgrancanaria is a race that has been on my radar for a while now and I’m glad I’ll finally get a chance to do it”
American runner Zach Miller will make his debut at The North Face Transgrancanaria, a race scheduled to take place between February 21 and 25, marking the third stop in the international World Trail Majors circuit. Miller, renowned for his distinctive style of sprinting towards the finish line after covering distances exceeding 100 kilometers, has become a prominent figure on the global trail-running scene. Representing The North Face team, he will embark on the challenging 126-kilometer course of the Classic race, set to commence on the night of February 23 from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
“I am looking forward to toeing the start line at Transgrancanaria this year. It’s a race that has been on my radar for a while now and I’m glad I’ll finally get a chance to do it”, he affirms.
Miller also notes, “I think the concept of crossing the island of Gran Canaria is so cool and the race is looking very competitive. Between the route and the competition, what’s not to like?”.
At 35 years old, Miller spent his first two years of life in Kenya and worked aboard a cruise ship, where he trained by running on the ship’s deck and climbing stairs—achieving victories such as the JFK 50 Mile in 2013 and Lake Sonoma 50 Mile in 2014 during that period.

His achievements include winning the CCC of Mont-Blanc and The North Face Endurance Challenge California – 50M in 2015 and 2016. Additionally, he claimed victory in the 2016 Madeira Island Ultra Trail, which is also part of the World Trail Majors circuit.
In the just-concluded 2023, he triumphed in the Tarawera Ultramarathon and secured the runner-up position in UTMB, finishing behind winner Jim Walmsley— , a duel that will be repeated next February in Gran Canaria. Both, along with other runners such as Miguel Arsénio, Seth Ruhling, Jiasheng Shen, or Andreu Simón, will compete for the largest economic prize in the history of the Gran Canaria race.
The North Face Transgrancanaria is a race organized by Arista Eventos and is sponsored by the institutions Cabildo de Gran Canaria, through Turismo de Gran Canaria; the Government of the Canary Islands with Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida; Maspalomas Costa Canaria; the Municipal Sports Institute of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; and the Town Hall of Tejeda. Additionally, it has the support of the companies The North Face, Fred. Olsen Express, Hospitales Universitarios San Roque, Expomeloneras, 226ERS, Aguas de Teror, and Sonocom Audiovisuales.
